Mechanical Technician

Overview

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for safely executing maintenance and preservation activities to ensure the reliability and longevity of mechanical equipment. The role performs inspection, repair, testing, and preservation tasks while maintaining high safety standards, supporting offshore operations, and reporting activities in accordance with company procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and reassembly of mechanical equipment.

  • Identify hazards and apply safe isolation and disconnection procedures.

  • Inspect, prepare, and test mechanical components before and after reassembly.

  • Carry out condition monitoring and adjust equipment to operating specifications.

  • Monitor, record, and maintain accurate maintenance and work history logs.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults using approved inspection and testing procedures.

  • Support pollution prevention by following environmental and waste disposal procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment.

  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Participate in emergency response duties and emergency drills.

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (N/SVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 3 years' mechanical maintenance experience.

  • Offshore experience is preferred.

  • Experience with hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities.

  • Knowledge of Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards, and Risk Assessment.

  • Experience in mechanical equipment inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis.

  • PRV/PSV calibration experience is an advantage.

  • Hydraulic crane maintenance experience is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of CMMS systems such as AMOS, IFS, or ePTW is preferred.

  • Medically fit to work in an offshore environment.
