Logistics and Shipping Officer
Work Setting: Combination of office-based administrative duties and field/on-board operations at waterside locations.
Overview:
The Logistics & Shipping Officer coordinates vessel operations by managing supplies, inspections, loading, discharge, billing and documentation to ensure efficient and timely vessel movements.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate vessel movements, including arrivals, departures, berthing and discharge.
Support day-to-day vessel operations before, during and after each movement.
Arrange and monitor vessel stores, supplies and consumables.
Conduct inventory counts and reconcile stock records.
Carry out vessel inspections and report maintenance or operational issues.
Coordinate communication between vessel crew and operations teams.
Assist with resolving crew-related operational matters.
Prepare vessel-related billing and maintain accurate records.
Maintain shipping, inspection and operational documentation.
Support other logistics and shipping activities as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects, including English and Math
Certificate or training in Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Marine Operations or a related field is an advantage.
Experience in logistics, shipping, warehousing, port or marine operations is an asset.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Good numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with inventory or billing is an asset.
Willing to work flexible hours, including Saturdays, to meet requirements.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
A valid driver's license would be an advantage.
