Logistics and Shipping Officer

Work Setting: Combination of office-based administrative duties and field/on-board operations at waterside locations.

Overview:

The Logistics & Shipping Officer coordinates vessel operations by managing supplies, inspections, loading, discharge, billing and documentation to ensure efficient and timely vessel movements.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate vessel movements, including arrivals, departures, berthing and discharge.

  • Support day-to-day vessel operations before, during and after each movement.

  • Arrange and monitor vessel stores, supplies and consumables.

  • Conduct inventory counts and reconcile stock records.

  • Carry out vessel inspections and report maintenance or operational issues.

  • Coordinate communication between vessel crew and operations teams.

  • Assist with resolving crew-related operational matters.

  • Prepare vessel-related billing and maintain accurate records.

  • Maintain shipping, inspection and operational documentation.

  • Support other logistics and shipping activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects, including English and Math

  • Certificate or training in Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Marine Operations or a related field is an advantage.

  • Experience in logistics, shipping, warehousing, port or marine operations is an asset.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Good numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with inventory or billing is an asset.

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including Saturdays, to meet requirements.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

A valid driver's license would be an advantage.
